Who I Am

I’m Baaska, a freelance digital marketer under the brand Maketingo, where I help businesses grow their presence on a global scale. My journey in digital marketing began with my deep curiosity about understanding how businesses grow and connect with people across borders. This curiosity led me to earn an undergraduate degree in Business and Economics in the United States, followed by an MBA in International Business from Taiwan. 

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with businesses — from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to Fortune 500 companies — across various industries, honing my skills in areas like Web Design & Development, SEO, PPC, E-Commerce, and SMM. This diverse set of experiences taught me that while mastering the technical aspects of digital marketing is important, true success lies in understanding the business dynamics behind the numbers. I believe that a holistic view—one that combines digital marketing know-how with business acumen—is the key to unlocking real growth. It’s not just about traffic or clicks; it’s about how those numbers translate into growth, revenue, and sustainability for the business. 

Through my academic and hands-on professional experiences, I developed a strategic, business-first mindset that ensures each marketing effort aligns with broader business goals. I don’t view digital marketing in isolation; I see it as an integral part of the entire business ecosystem. This perspective helps me identify the most efficient and effective ways to drive results. Focusing obsessively on unimportant tasks doesn’t make them important—it’s about doing the right things that truly move the needle for my clients. 

Freelancing allows me to provide a personalized, hands-on approach that larger agencies often struggle to offer. By working closely with my clients, I can fully understand their unique challenges and craft strategies tailored specifically to their needs. This flexibility allows me to pivot quickly, respond to market changes, and adapt strategies in real time—all while keeping the client’s business objectives at the forefront. 

Based in Taiwan, I understand both the challenges and immense potential local businesses face in reaching international customers. For example, many Taiwanese export-driven companies face challenges in designing visually engaging interfaces, bridging language gaps to communicate their unique value effectively, and building a recognizable brand to reach and resonate with international clients in highly competitive global markets. 

Helping businesses in Taiwan grow beyond borders is about creating real opportunities for my clients to connect with international audiences and build lasting success. My Story

Early in my career, I realized the crucial role marketing plays in a company’s success. It’s the lifeblood of a business, generating the revenue that keeps the lights on. With this understanding, I embarked on a professional journey in marketing, working in both in-house marketing departments and digital marketing agencies. 

While many digital marketers specialize in specific areas, I chose to gain experience in diverse roles both within agencies and across different sectors. This deliberate approach allowed me to gain a holistic understanding of digital marketing, from SEO and PPC to website development, and observe how each element contributes to a company’s bottom line. 

In my time working in digital marketing agencies, I noticed that client services often felt fragmented and, at times, inefficient. Many agencies seemed focused on vanity metrics and surface-level KPIs—measures that, while impressive on paper, don’t necessarily translate to real business growth. I realized that the success of a digital marketing agency hinges on the people who craft and execute the strategies. Unfortunately, many agencies have specialists who lack a holistic view and a deep understanding of the real business impact of their work. 

Recognizing these gaps, I decided to take a different path and founded my independent practice under the brand name Maketingo—a playful twist on the Japanese word for marketing, Māketingu. This name embodies the spirit of my approach: not just to offer services like SEO, PPC, and website development, but to create integrated marketing solutions where every decision is data-driven and each strategy is purposefully designed to drive meaningful results. 

As I look to the future, my vision for Maketingo is clear. I aim to continue helping businesses not just compete but thrive in their markets. My goal, for my clients, is to be not just a service provider but a growth partner, empowering them with strategies that leverage their unique strengths and unlock new opportunities.
